Sea-Hawks Cross Country is Back

The Memorial Sea-Hawks Cross Country team steps back onto the running track this weekend for the first time in nearly two years when they participate in the Acadia Invitational on October 2nd. Both Sea-Hawks men's and women's teams will be participating in the competition.

Sea-Hawks men, led by Levi Moulton who finished 5th in the 2019 AUS championships, his teammates joining him include James Power, Alexander Pittman, Aaron Wilcox, Ryne King, Evan Youden, and Phoenix Clifford Tashlin. The long layoff leaves teams with plenty of unknowns about how they will perform against competition, but Levi is excited to test it out "We are all stoked to test our fitness. It's been over a year since we have had meaningful race experience, so we are all going into this blind" said Moulton. It will be extremely interesting to see how the Sea-Hawks team stacks up against other competition after such a long hiatus. In Moulton's last event, the 2019 AUS Championships, he ran a time of 25:58:00, which was good enough for a top-five finish and should give Moulton a bit of confidence into this event versus AUS competition.

On the women's side the team is led by 2019 AUS champion Jade Roberts alongside teammates Keeley Cox, Maria Chafe, Laura O'Keefe, Danielle Seviour, Olivia Cole and Abby Pace, all of the members of the Sea-Hawks are eager to test themselves against the rest of the AUS. Roberts is excited for the team to showcase all of their hard work they did during the pandemic "This weekend will be the first chance for the Sea-Hawks to finally showcase all of the hard work and dedication that they have put in during the pandemic.", this is a great proving ground for the team to see where they are positioned among their opponents. Roberts is confident she can produce a performance similar to the one that won her gold in 2019 "I am going to put my heart and soul into defending my title and giving it my absolute all to become a champion once again and experience the exact feeling that got me through these last two years". Roberts last race (2019 AUS) she posted a time of 30:23:00 which was good enough for first place and she obviously wants to have that winning feeling once again. The Sea-Hawks women appear very excited to show the fruits of their labour this weekend at Acadia.

The Acadia Invitational will take place on Saturday, 0ctober 2nd at 1:00 PM ADT.
