Burger King Classic Volleyball Tournament

  
2022 BURGER KING CLASSIC VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
 
Thank you for your interest in the 2022 Burger King Classic.  This tournament will occur on January 28th & 29th, 2022 and will provide an opportunity for our young athletes to hone their skills in a competitive tournament.  All proceeds from this tournament will go towards Alumni and Friends of Women's Volleyball Award endowment fund for the Memorial University Sea-Hawks Women's Volleyball Team.  
 

REGISTER YOUR TEAM

 
KEY POINTS:
 
1) Tournament dates: Friday, January 28th and Saturday, January 29th, 2022  | REGISTRATION DEADLINE JANUARY 14th, 2022.
2) No lines people will be used.

3) Teams MUST supply a scorekeeper (parent) for each of their matches, but are not expected to supply a lines person.  When aligning with NLVA rules and regulations a team must supply a scorekeeper or the set will be a forfeit 25-0.  
4) Team are encouraged to register early as space in the tournament tends to fill up quickly.
5) Coaches are responsible for following up to ensure we have received entry forms. 
6) No rosters are to be sent in. Rosters will not be provided on the game sheets or in the program. Teams will be responsible to write in rosters or create their own rosters on computer labels.

 
TOURNAMENT FORMAT:
 
Each division will be based on registration numbers. Each team will be guaranteed four matches.
 
Senior High Girls' (A & B DIVISIONS): Teams must decide which division they would like to participant in. Please ensure that you specify which division your team will play in on the online registration form. Mikasa MVA V200W will be the ball used.
 
Senior High Boys' (A & B DIVISIONS): Teams must decide which division they would like to participant in. Please ensure that you specify which division your team will play in on the online registration form. Mikasa MVA V200W will be the ball used.
 
Junior High Girls' (Grade 7,8,9 DIVISIONS):  Teams must decide which division they would like to participant in. Please ensure that you specify which division your team will play in on the online registration form. Mikasa MVA VQ200W will be the ball used.

Junior High Boys' (Grade 7,8,9 DIVISIONS):  Teams must decide which division they would like to participant in. Please ensure that you specify which division your team will play in on the online registration form. Mikasa MVA VQ200W will be the ball used.
 
Please note: There is a possibility that the tournament format will change depending on the registration demand for the various divisions.
 
MINOR OFFICIATING:
 
Teams will need to provide one score keeper per match. This can be team managers, coach, or athlete provided that they have been suitably trained. Scorekeeper training information can be found following this link: www.volleyball.ca/content/officials-resources. Volleyball Canada score sheets will be used.
 
OFFICIATING:
 
Will be completed by the Memorial Sea-Hawks Women’s Volleyball team, who are rated officials. 
 
PRIZES:
 
Senior High Girls' Divisions (A & B): Winning teams in each division will receive a keeper banner and medals.
 
Senior High Boys' Divisions (A & B): Winning teams in each division will receive a keeper banner and medals.
 
Junior High Girls' Divisions (7,8,9): Winning teams in each division will receive a keeper banner and medals.
 
Junior High Boys' Divisions (7,8,9): Winning teams in each division will receive a keeper banner and medals.
 
ENTRY FEE:
 
$250/TEAM (Taxes Included)
 
No entries will be considered without receipt of fees by the January 14th 2022 deadline. Schools entering a team in the junior high divisions must send individual cheques for each entry. Cheques payable to Memorial University Women’s Volleyball. NO refunds will be issued after January 21st, 2022. SANCTIONING:
 
The tournament is sanctioned by Newfoundland & Labrador Volleyball Association. 
 
TOURNAMENT RULES:
 
Junior High: Volleyball Canada tie-breaking procedures will be used. Libero will not be used in the Junior High Divisions. Twelve unlimited sub rule will be used. Overhead pass on serve will be considered two contacts, except in the GRADE 9 Division. The NLVA fair play rule will be in effect.
 
Senior High: Volleyball Canada rules and tie-breaking procedures will be used. Libero WILL be used in the Senior High Divisions. Six limited sub rule will be used.
