Sea-Hawks to attend Kemp Fry Invitational at Dalhousie

Both the Memorial Sea-Hawks men and women's swimming teams are ready to hit the road to compete in the Kemp Fry Invitational from Friday, November 25th – Sunday November 27th in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

On the men's side the team enjoyed some success at their first event of the season (Jack Scholz AUS Invitational Meet), placing on the podium a few times in both the individual and team events. 2nd year swimmer Matthew Whelan enjoyed a solid all-around event to start the season, capturing 3rd place in the 400 SC Meter Individual Medley (4:46.94) and 4th place in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke (1:09.22). Nathan Flynn was impressive in his first meet for the Sea-Hawks, grabbing 4th place in the 50 SC Meter Backstroke (28.83). 3rd year swimmer Thomas Chafe showed well in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle (1:58.38), notching a 3rd place finish in the event. In the 400 SC Meter Freestyle relay, the team of Sam Pennell, Dylan Morawski, Thomas Chafe, and Matty Whelan did well enough to grab 3rd place, with a time of 3:39.80. These results should give the team a good sense of confidence heading into this weekend's meet and the rest of the season.

For the women, Ally Warren finished with the highest finish in the first event of the season, capturing 3rd place in the 50 SC Meter Backstroke with an impressive time of 32.31. Kate Williams was also solid in her performance at the Jack Scholz Invitational, finishing 4th in the 50 SC Meter Freestyle (28.35) and 5th in the 50 SC Meter Backstroke (33.23). The Sea-Hawks also found success in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay, the team of Kathryn Stokes, Heidi Perry, Megan Holden, and Kate Williams finished 3rd in the meet (4:01.47). These great performances will be invaluable at providing the Sea-Hawks with confidence heading into the Kemp Fry Invitational this weekend and will be key in preparation as they host the AUS Championships in February.
