Having being appointed in the summer of 2015, coach Power is entering his 9th season leading the Sea-Hawks women’s soccer program. In each of his previous 8 campaigns, Memorial has qualified for the AUS semi-final. During this spell the program has produced 2 AUS MVP’s, 27 AUS All-Stars, 4 AUS Student-Athlete Community Service Award Winners, 1 AUS rookie of the year, and twice has coach Power been named as the AUS Coach of the year.
On a U-Sports level in the same time frame, the program has yielded 4 All-Canadians, 1 U-Sports all-rookie team member, 2 U-Sports Student-Athlete Community Service Award Winners, and dozens of Academic All-Canadians. Under his leadership, 13 team members have been proudly inducted into to Memorial’s Athletic Honor society, adding to the previous 22 women’s soccer players that proceeded them.
In 2016 Memorial set a program record with a 31-point season, and their 51 goals scored remains the all-time AUS record. In 2021 the Sea-Hawks finished atop the AUS regular season standings for the first time in program history.
In 2014 Power earned his “National A” coaching license from the Canadian Soccer Association. He holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Co-op) from Memorial, and is in the process of completing a Master’s Degree in Management.
Prior to joining the women’s program, coach Power was an assistant coach with the Sea-Hawks men’s soccer team for 6 seasons, from 2009-2014. From 2007-2019 he worked as full-time technical staff member for the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer association, leading countless player development projects, including the provincial teams program, the implementation of the Premier Youth League, the introduction of the Whitecaps FC Academy Center to the province, and the former National Training Center program.
Power has served as a head coach for Team NL at the Canada Games on 4 occasions (2009 Summerside, 2013 Sherbrooke, 2017 Winnipeg, and 2022 Niagara), has won multiple Atlantic Championships with the NLSA, and twice has coached the Gonzaga Vikings to 4A men's soccer championships. He has been a head coach for Team Atlantic, and in 2012 was assistant coach with the Canadian U-18 men’s national team.
