(Sydney, NS) – The second women's semi-final game was a faceoff between the Capers and Memorial University and as the game started you could tell that the wind would be a huge factor. Memorial were the underdogs in this match and they wanted to prove doubters wrong as they started out hot pelting the Capers goalie with shot after shot but Rachel Yerxa (Mississauga, ON) stood strong and held her ground, keeping the game scoreless. Memorial also did a good job at not allowing the Capers to get a lot of shots, in fact it took the Capers 32 minutes to get a shot on the keeper. 

The Capers didn't get a lot of chances in the first half but they made one of them count, late into the first half MacKenna King used her great placement and beautiful footwork made a bullet of a shot off a rebound to give the CBU Capers a 1-0 lead. The rest of the first half was back and forth with neither teams putting a shot on net.  

The second half started off with a different story then the start of the first, with CBU taking a few shots but Memorial's keeper Sydney Walsh (ST. John's NL) made some great saves. The Capers tested her a lot and she stood strong, keeping her cool and staying with the ball. These teams were well matched, Memorial's defense not letting a lot of shots and same with the Capers strong defensive line. In the 68th minute Ameila Carlini (Ottawa, ON) used a great handle and a quick one touch shot to squeak it past the keeper and score to give the Capers a 2-0 lead. With no other goals being scored the Capers took the game and moved on to the championship game.

The CAPERS will now face the #1 seed Acadia Axewomen on Sunday at 1pm in the AUS Championship Final.
