SEA-HAWKS BACK AT HOME NEST TO FACE THE AXEWOMEN

SEA-HAWKS BACK AT HOME NEST TO FACE THE AXEWOMEN

The Matchup
This travel weekend was one of success for the Sea-Hawks coming out with the two wins they had hoped for. Saturday's match was a 3-1 victory over the UPEI Panthers. The goal scorers that helped make this possible were fourth years Holly O'Neill and Nicole Torraville and second year forward #7 Kate Hickey of Outer Cove. Goalkeeper Sydney Walsh also maintained her reputation, the AUS all-star was able to defend all but one shot on goal to keep her team in the winners bracket.

In Sunday's match versus the Mount Allison Mounties Nicole Torraville hit on target in the 39th minute and teammate Stacey Hanlon came through in the 51st minute with the teams second goal which would complete the score for the match (2-0).

The Sea-Hawks will hope to continue their win streak this weekend when they meet the Acadia Axewomen. In the preseason, Memorial and Acadia tied at nil after a strong defensive game was played by both. Coming into this weekend, the Axewomen also know the feeling of victory as the team started their regular season with three immediate wins. In the three games, Acadia scored a total of 11 goals and served shut-outs to their opponents each match. Given that the last Sea-Hawks-Axewomen match ended scoreless it's expected that both squads will come out firing on all cylinders to try and clinch a win.

Hawks Eye
A couple of Axewomen to look out for this weekend will be Senior Jenna Boudreau and rookie player Grace Longley. In the first three games mentioned, Boudreau had a major impact scoring three goals and had four team assists. The impressive rookie Grace Longley finished the first three matches registering two goals and 1 assist. Acadia will no doubt field a well-rounded team this weekend. Luckily for Memorial they bring the same; a solid unit of experienced soccer players and eager rookies.

With the Sea-Hawks starting so strong it's a hope that people take notice and the ladies can get more fan support this upcoming home weekend. A win at home would feel all that more exciting for Memorial if they could celebrate with a wave of support in the stands.
