Hawks place 5th at AUS Curling Championship

(HALIFAX, NS)—The Dalhousie curling club swept the men's and women's titles at the 2020 Subway AUS Curling Championships, presented by Keep It Social, being hosted by the Saint Mary's Huskies at the CFB Halifax Curling Club. 

On the women's bracket, Dalhousie defeated the UNB Reds 7-4 in seven ends.  Dal scored two points in the first end followed by singles from UNB in the second and Dal with one each in the third and fourth ends and led 4-1. 

UNB, with two points in the fifth end, trailed Dal 4-3. The sixth end saw three points from Dal, who increased their lead to 7-3. UNB ended the scoring with a single point in the seventh end. 

The Tigers won their second in a row and have three AUS crowns in five years.  

Skip Kristin Clarke led Dal along with teammates Lindsey Burgess, Kate Callaghan, Sarah Gierling, Madison Johnson and were coached by Mike Callaghan. 

Justine Comeau skipped UNB with Erica Cluff, Keira McLaughlin, Meghan Beland, Brigitte Comeau and were coached by Tim Comeau. 

All four finalists earn berths into the U SPORTS national championship March 11-15 in Portage la Prairie, Man.
