Hawks Host Final Home Games

Hawks Host Final Home Games

Matchup

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (8-10) host their final home games of the season, as they get set to host the Dalhousie Tigers (7-11) in a weekend series. This matchup will see the Sea-Hawks and Tigers fight for higher playoff seeding. Memorial will have to secure at least one win in order to avoid dropping to 6th in the standings and having to face a higher seeded Acadia team in the first round of the playoffs.

Last Action

Last weekend Memorial split a series with the struggling Saint Mary's Huskies (3-16) on the road. The Tigers come off a weekend split with the 4th place UNB Varsity Reds (10-8) at home.

By The Numbers

25.5 – The number of turnovers that the Tigers averaged last weekend during their two game series against the Varsity Reds. The Sea-Hawks averaged 9 steals against the Huskies last weekend, and if they can be aggressive again and force Dalhousie into making this many turnovers, then it should be a successful weekend for Memorial.

45 – Memorial averaged 45 rebounds per game as a team last weekend, compared to the Tigers, who averaged 32.5 rebounds per game in their last two games. If the Hawks can manage to have a strong performance on the glass again, they will set themselves up for a successful final weekend at home.

Player Spotlight

5th years (Memorial) – Memorial will be honoring four 5th year players this weekend, as these will be their last home games of their Sea-Hawks careers. Sydney Stewart (21.4 ppg), Sydney Ezekiel (14.8 ppg), Brooklyn Wright (10.2 ppg) and Rosie Stanoev (3.4 ppg) are all in their final seasons of their varsity careers and Memorial will be paying homage to them for their contributions to the university and the community over the years.

Robertha Charles (Dalhousie) – Robertha Charles (13.6 ppg), the Tigers leading scorer on the season, had an impressive weekend series against UNB, as she picked up 16 points and 7 rebounds in a win on Friday. She averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game on the weekend to lead the Tigers to the series split. Memorial will have to keep the 5'11" forward in check if they want to pick up some wins this weekend.
