Sea-Hawks Host Huskies in Home Opener

The Memorial Sea-Hawks host their first home games of the 2018-19 AUS Women's Basketball season this weekend at The Field House versus the Saint Mary's Huskies.

The Hawks and Huskies both enter this weekend with 0-2 records. Memorial dropped two close matches to the UPEI Panthers last weekend, while Saint Mary's were defeated twice at home by the Acadia Axewomen.

Despite the losses last weekend Coach English felt there were a lot of positive the team can draw from.

"We had a lot of positives last weekend at UPEI despite not getting a win. I feel we need to improve on being more consistent and put together a full game on both ends of the floor."

Sydney Ezekiel (St. John's, NL) returned to the team this season after spending a year away. Ezekiel was a key contributor for the Hawks last weekend, scoring 19 points on Saturday night, followed by a 13-point, 12 rebound performance on Sunday. She believes the team needs to continue to trust each other and good things will follow.

"We need to continue to trust in our game plan and stay focused on the defensive end of the floor. Being on home court is always a great help to get the team going. We are lucky to have some awesome fans here at Memorial."

The Sea-Hawks and Huskies take the court on Saturday night at 6pm, followed by a rematch on Sunday afternoon at 12pm. Both games take place at The Field House and will also be webcast on AUStv.ca. Live score updates are available on goseahawks.ca.
