Final Home Games for Hawks

Final Home Games for Hawks

Matchup

The Sea-Hawks (10-8) host the Saint Mary's Huskies (10-8) this weekend in the final regular season games for both teams.  The first matchup will take place on Friday night at 6:00pm, following be a rematch on Saturday afternoon at 12:00pm.

The Huskies sit just ahead of the Sea-Hawks in the AUS standings, holding the spot by a two-point margin.  While neither team is able to jump into second place in the standings, which would secure a first round playoff bye, there is lots to be determined for the final seeds in the AUS, going into playoffs.  PEI is also tied with Memorial with 26 points, and depending on this weekend's results, they could still jump ahead of Saint Mary's and Memorial into third place.  All games this weekend are worth four points in the standings, as this is the only meeting of the regular season between the teams.

Last Action

Memorial is coming off a road weekend sweep of the last place StFX X-Women. The Sea-Hawks needed a strong fourth quarter to earn a Saturday night victory and used that momentum to take down the X-Women again on Sunday afternoon.

Saint Mary's is currently on a three-game losing streak, losing both home games last weekend to the Cape Breton Capers.

By the Numbers

58.4 – The Huskies defense is allowing a league best 58.4 PPG on the season, which is 8 points better than the next best team. The Sea-Hawks will have to be on top of their game on the offensive end to earn victories this weekend.

19.0 – Brook Wright is averaging 19.0 PTS/G over her last nine games.  The leading scorer this season in the AUS is Alison Keough (Cape Breton), who is averaging 18.8 PTS/G. Wright will certainly be a focal point for the Huskies defense.

Player Spotlight

Lindsay Taylor (Memorial) – Taylor enters her final home weekend as a Sea-Hawks with 150 career 3-pointers made. She sits 10 behind Sea-Hawks legend Michelle Healey. Taylor will be hard pressed to break her record, but having a 40.3% on the season will certainly make things interesting.

Shanieka Wood (Saint Mary's) – Wood has been a top performer for the Huskies all season long. She is averaging 10.6 PTS/G and 9.3 REB/G on the season. Memorial will have their hands full with Wood the entire weekend.
