Sea-Hawks place Third at Kemp Fry

The Memorial Sea-Hawks Swim teams had a strong showing at the Kemp Fry meet hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers.

 

The Sea-Hawks took flight during their last meet, setting new club and AUS records.

The men's 4x100 m freestyle relay consisting of Thomas Chafe, Daniel Pearce, Matt Lecoure, and Chris Weeks finished with a time of 3:28:57, strong enough to finish third place and beat their previous club record from 2014. The men's 4x100 m medley relay also gained a club record. The group consisted of Matt Lecoure, Liam Tweedie, Daniel Pearce, and Chris Weeks, and finished with a time of 3:50:69, beating the club's previous 2020 record. This time was strong enough to gain them a third place finish.

Rookie Star Chris Weeks not only broke club records but swam times that broke AUS records as well, being Memorial's first swimmer to hold a record since the 1980s. Weeks Set AUS records in three separate events. He swam a time of 22.44 s in the 50 m free, 23.64 s in the 50 m fly, and 48.62 s in the 100 m freestyle. 

Both the Men's and Women's placed third overall, following the Acadia Axe-Wo/Men in second and the Dalhousie Tigers in first. The Sea-Hawks will hit the water again in the new year at the UNB Invitational January 20 and 21, 2024.
