Sea-Hawks Hit the Road to Begin Their Final Half of the Season

The Memorial Sea-Hawks will be Digging for 6 Points During this Weekends Away Games

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (3-3-0) will take on a pair of away games this upcoming weekend against the UPEI Panthers (1-2-2) on Friday, September 22 at 7:15 pm and the Mount Allison Mounties (0-3-1) on Sunday, September 24 at 2:15 pm where they will look to start off the latter part of their season on a high note. With 6 games completed and 6 games to go, the Sea-Hawks are heading into pivotal territory where it is crucial to show their dominance. "We're looking for 6 points on the road to put us in a good position for the rest of the season" says Sea-Hawk Cabhan O'Keefe. "We're hoping to build off of last Sunday's 3-0 win against the Huskies to keep us headed in the right direction".

This past weekend at home, the Sea-Hawks split their points with the Saint Mary's Huskies concluding in a 3-0 win and a 2-1 loss. This weekend's goals came from Cabhan O'Keefe (1), Troy Petrie (1), and Jacob Grant (2) which resulted in outscoring their opponents 4-2. Two key goal scorers have added to their total this past weekend; Cabhan O'Keefe and Jacob Grant both currently sit at 2 goals each being major assets to the team's goal count and performances. Jacob Grant currently leads the team in shots (8) as well, proving that he is a dominant performer for Memorial's offense. While currently sitting at fourth place in the AUS, Memorial is third for goals scored and first for both shots and shots on goal. Already proving their strong offense, the Sea-Hawks will be looking to settle their defense during the second half of the season. Memorial has played a lone goalkeeper this season, Louis-Charles Vaillancourt who currently holds a 0.667 SV%. While his save percentage is on the lower side of the standings, Vaillancourt has been a powerful presence in net. The Sea-Hawks do not let up many shots on their goalkeeper but when they do, the chances are right on top of him, explaining his deceiving statistics.

The first of the away games this weekend will be against the UPEI Panthers who are currently 8th in the league. With the team averaging a little over a goal a game and almost 9 shots a game, they are led by midfielder Kasper Lasia who currently sits at 2 goals and 9 shots. The Panthers have witnessed a lot of both for and against action so far this season, scoring 7 goals and conceding 8 and will be trying to add to the former this weekend. The Panthers have had two goalkeepers between the posts so far this season, Evan Couturier and Isaac Wolters. Couturier is sitting with a save percentage of 0.692 and Wolters at 0.778 putting them both in the middle of the pack in the AUS.

The Sea-Hawks will play their last game of the weekend against the last seeded team, the Mount Allison Mounties. Conceding 15 goals and scoring only 1, the Mounties have been both starved for offense this season and struggling with their defense. Their lone goal scorer is Jack Bennett who is also tied for the most shots on the team so far (4) with Tevin Lewis. The Mounties have fielded three impressive goalies so far this season, Rhys Chambers with a 0.750 SV%, Arthie Fotheringham with a 0.667 SV%, and Matthew Kiropoulos with a 0.375 SV%. Although looking at the statistics may give the Sea-Hawks confidence in this game, they must take it seriously. Last season, the Sea-Hawks fell 1-0 to the Mounties, awarding them their first AUS win since 2015.
