Seahawks Season Openers Against Dalhousie

Memorial Seahawks Gear Up to Take on Dalhousie Tigers in Season Openers

Anticipation is building as the Memorial Seahawks prepare to kick off their season with a thrilling double-header against the Dalhousie Tigers at their home turf, King George V Park, this upcoming weekend.

Eager to make a strong start to the season, the Seahawks have their sights set on a more impressive finish this year after narrowly missing the playoffs by a mere 4 points in the previous season. Armed with a roster of key players, including former captain Harry Carter, current captain Felly Elonda, and striker Jacob Grant, the Seahawks are determined to assert their dominance early in the season. Meanwhile, the Dalhousie Tigers, whom the Seahawks suffered a defeat against in their previous encounter last year, finished 2 spots higher than Memorial heading into the playoffs. They are now determined to uphold their position and prove themselves on the field.

"...Our conference is very strong, and we expect all games to be tough," says coach Jake Stanford. "...but we also feel that our players have returned with a wonderful attitude and have shown that they will be up for the challenge."

A notable addition to the Seahawks' roster is Louis-Charles Vaillancourt, who arrives off of an outstanding season with the UNB Reds. With a remarkable save percentage of 0.845 and 3 shutouts in just 12 games, Vaillancourt brings a commanding presence in net for the team. "...with the team not losing a big number of players from last season and adding experienced recruits in different positions for the upcoming season, I think we have the potential to surprise any team who decides not to take us seriously, as we've shown with our pre-season results."

The Seahawks dominated all three games during their pre-season, defeating the Acadia  Axemen 6-1, the King's College Monarchs 5-0, and the Saint Mary's Huskies 4-1. Colin Connors, who managed only 2 goals in the previous season, exhibited a remarkable showing during the pre-season, scoring 2 goals in each of the 3 games. Another essential player was Cabhan O'Keefe, netting a goal in every pre-season match.

As the countdown begins, the Memorial Seahawks are ready to put everything they have into their season openers on home soil.
