Sea-Hawks Off to NS to play two top AUS teams

The Memorial Sea-Hawks travel to Nova Scotia this weekend to take on the Cape Breton Capers and the St. FX X-Men.

The Sea-Hawks sit at 3-3-2 on the season, and go into the weekend facing the 1st and 2nd ranked teams in the AUS. Cape Breton sits atop the standings at 7-0-1, while St. FX have a record of 7-1-1 in 2nd place.

The first game of the weekend has the Sea-Hawks facing the Capers at 3:45PM NST in Cape Breton, where the team will look to shut down the high-powered offensive attack of the Capers, who average 3.13 goals per game, and have scored a total of 25 goals through 8 games.

This offense has been led by 2nd year forward Charlie Waters, who has 6 goals and 2 assists in 7 games played. The Sea-Hawks will look to stop the Blackpool, UK native in order to have success on Saturday.

The second game of the weekend will see the Sea-Hawks travel to Antigonish on Sunday to take on the second place St. FX X-Men at 3:45PM NST. The Hawks will have to shut down another powerful offense in the X-Men, as they have scored 27 goals through 9 games, and average 3 goals per game.

The X-Men have the top 2 goal scorers in the league in Dan Hayfield and Tane Caubo, with 11 and 8 goals respectively. Hayfield, a native of Exeter, UK has assisted on 7 goals as well, meaning that he has had a big hand in 18 of the 27 goals scored by the X-Men. If the Sea-Hawks can limit the touches of Hayfield, they will have a good chance of winning on Sunday.

These games will be tough tests for the Sea-Hawks, but if they can build on their current 3-game winning streak and come out with some wins or draws, it will be very crucial to their chances at a playoff spot. These games will arguably be the biggest games of the season for Memorial.
