Sea-Hawks on a 4 Game Winning Streak

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (5-3) will face the Cape Breton Capers (4-3) this weekend on home court. The Sea-Hawks will be looking to extend their 4 game winning streak.

Last weekend, the Memorial Sea-Hawks faced the Acadia Axe-Men on the road, completing their first weekend road sweep in 23 years. They found their way past the leagues dominant point leader, Glen Cox. Friday night's game was a hard contested match opened by a 3 point  jump shot by Sea-Hawks Nick Tuff which was counteracted by a similar shot by Axe-Men's Glen Cox. Memorial was trailing 38-34 at half. In the third quarter, the Axe-Men managed to pull ahead with a 42-34 lead before the Sea-Hawks gained 10 quick consecutive points to tie the game and begin the comeback with the help of 6 points from Flynn Boardman-Raffet. The Sea-Hawks found consistency and pulled ahead 85-78 when the final buzzer horned. Memorial gained consistent points off of turnovers in the game, capitalizing on 23 attempts. Game point leader was Axe-Men Glen Cox who gained 26 of Acadia's 78 points. Point leader for the Sea-Hawks was Nick Tuff with 17 in his impressive 35 minutes on the floor.

Saturday's game allowed Memorial to gain an ecstatic road sweep. The Axe-Men once again gained a promising 49-40 lead at half time. The Axe-Men continued to spread the lead and gained a 13 point lead in the third quarter. The Sea-Hawks felt the urgency and fought back. Memorial's first go ahead point of the game was a jump shot made by Josh Reimer. The teams then traded leads until the game tied with 4 seconds left. The Sea-Hawks found themself in possession and called a timeout. Quick strategic planning from Head Coach Ian Coultas resulted in a buzzer beater 3 point jump shot taken by Josh Reimer with an impressive assist from Jason Thopmson to end the game in a win. Point leaders Axe-Men Glen Cox and Sea-Hawks Nick Tuff left the court with 23 a piece, both being critical in their teams efforts.

Memorial is looking to continue their hot streak this upcoming weekend on home court where they will face the Cape Breton Capers who are just trailing behind them. The Capers are home to the AUS' fourth place point per game player, Shakael Pryce averaging 19.3 points per game totalling 135 overall.

The Sea-Hawks currently hold 6th, 7th, & 9th in the points per game statistics and are Emmanuel Ring, Nick Tuff, and Flyn Boardman-Raffet respectively. Ring has accumulated 127 points so far this season helping his team to 5 wins. He also has impressive defense as he holds 13 steals and 9 total blocks. Nick Tuff boasted some impressive statistics last weekend where he netted 40 total points along with 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. The Sea-Hawks are also led by 5th year veteran Jason Thompson who role models on and off the bench. Thompson leads the team in assists and as seen in the buzzer beater against the Axe-Men, these assists are exceptional.
