Hawks Split Weekend with Capers

The Capers earned a weekend split with an 83-77 victory over Memorial University on Sunday afternoon at the Sullivan Fieldhouse. The Capers were able to use a first half 9 point lead and hold off Memorial to ride out the victory. The Capers were once again led by AUS All-stars Osman Omar (Mississauga, ON) with 26 pts and 6 rebounds as well as Paul Watson (Mississauga, ON) with 7 points and 16 rebounds. Ibrahim Gosselin-Diawara (Longueuil, QC) also scored in double digits with 11 and Chris Hankins (Burlington, ON) had a strong game off the bench with 12 points in 26 minutes.  The Seahawks followed their Saturday game and used a balanced scoring attack with 4 players scoring in double digits. They were led by Nathan Barker with 19 pts. Cole Long, Boris Ristanovic and Jason Thompson also had double-digit games.

Turning point – After the Seahawks had a strong third quarter the Capers were able to match them bucket for bucket down the stretch to earn the victory. 

Individual Leaders

  • The CAPERS' Omar led all players with 26 pts
  • Watson led the game with 16 rebounds
  • CBU's Watson had a game-high 5 assists
  • Local standout Jason Callaghan (Sydney, NS) was 2 for 3 from behind the arc.
