Sea-Hawks head to New Brunswick to compete at AUS Track Championships

The Memorial Sea-Hawks will be heading up to New Brunswick this weekend to compete in the 2023 AUS Track and Field Championships. The Sea-Hawks will have athletes competing in several different races as well as field events and will be up against the top universities in Atlantic Canada. 

 

The team travelling is listed in order of appearance from left to right:

Bottom row: Emily Foley, Gretchen McPhail, Brianna Fortune, Molly Pomeroy, Shae Ledevehat, Maria Chafe, Laura O'Keefe, Erin McGettigan, Paxton Ramm

 

Shae Ledvehat will be competing in the women's pentathlon where she is seeded first among the competitors. Emily Foley will also be representing Memorial in the pentathlon. On the men's side, Joseph Pittman will be competing in the heptathlon multi-event, in addition to the individual pole vault and 60m hurdle events. 

 

Alexandre Nunes will be running the men's 300m race, where he is seeded third. He will also likely be running on the relay teams. 

 

Paxton Ramm will be running in the women's 60m and 300m sprints, while Molly Pomeroy will also be running the 300m, where she is seeded 8th heading into the competition. 

 

There will be several athletes from Memorial running the men's 600m race, including James Power, Owen Campbell, Tadgh Strand and Ashok Kosanam. James Power will also be running in the men's 1000m race with teammate Noah Defryne, and Defreyne will be competing in the 1500m race as well. 

 

On the women's side, Gretchen McPhail will be racing in the 600m and 1000m races, while Maria Chafe and Laura O'Keefe will both be competing in the 1500m and 3000m events. 

 

In the field events, Shae Ledevehat will be competing in the individual long jump along with Brianna Fortune, who is also doing the triple jump. 

 

Erin McGettigan will be competing in the women's pole vault and is seeded second heading into the Championships. 

 

On the men's side, Chris Coady will be competing in both the shot put and weight throw. 

 

Finally, the Sea-Hawks will be competing in the men's 4x400m and 4x800m relays and the women's 4x200m, 4x400m and 4x800m relays.
