Sea-Hawks Conclude 2023 Season with a Strong Finish

The Memorial Sea-Hawks fall short in the semi-finals to hold their 4th place finish.

The Sea-Hawks (4th) played the Saint Mary's Huskies (5th) in the quarter-finals. The first goal of the game came in the 29th minute when 4th year (3rd eligible) Cabhan O'Keefe started an impressive play to Jacob Grant who crossed the ball to lead goal scorer Colin Connors who found the back of the net. Connors would go ahead to net two more goals, earning his first regular season hat trick. Captain Harry Carter also netted the ball past Huskies goalkeeper to give the Sea-Hawks a 4-1 win.

The Sea-Hawks then advanced to the semi-finals where they faced the first place Cape Breton Capers. The Capers scored first to make it 1-0 at half. During the 63rd minute, Sea-Hawks defender Matt Hargest found striker Colin Connors at the top of the box where he found his striking partner Jacob Grant who soared one past the Capers goalkeeper to tie the game. Only 2 minutes later, the Capers would find another goal to regain the lead. After an intense battle, the Capers came out on top with a 4-1 victory.

The Memorial Sea-Hawks ended their regular season on a high note. They placed 4th heading into the playoffs, the highest standing the Sea-Hawks soccer team has seen since 2005. With 10 different goal scorers, the attacking talent on the Sea-Hawks was clearly diverse. Second year Colin Connors had an impressive season with the Sea-Hawks. He was their leading goal scorer with 4 regular season goals and a hat trick in the playoffs to end his season. His impressive speed and ball netting abilities earned him a spot on the second team all stars. Just behind him with 3 regular season goals is Cabhan O'Keefe who also led the team with 3 assists and 6 overall points. Captain Harry Carter proved his dominance during his last year with assertive leadership and aggressive play. His impressive performance and passion earned him a spot on the first team all stars. Memorial was honored to welcome former UNB goalkeeper Louis-Charles Vaillancourt to the roster this year as well. Vaillancourt was phenomenal and made countless crucial saves to keep the Sea-Hawls afloat.
