Sea-Hawks Set to Host Saint Mary's Huskies

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (2-2-0) will host the Saint Mary's Huskies (1-1-0) this coming weekend in a double header where both teams look to reactivate some momentum.

The Sea-Hawks will be looking to bounce back after two hard fought losses at the hands of the UNB Reds (2-1-0) and the Moncton Aigles Bleus (1-2-1). UNB scored 2 goals against Memorial during the 16th and 48th minute. The Sea-Hawks then picked up the pace and pressured the Red's into their half when during the 62nd minute, Cabhan O'Keefe was able to find the back of the net off of a pass from Gus Upuoro. Within the 5 minutes of extra time, the Red's looked as if they were going to add to their lead until the goal was ruled offside. The Sea-Hawks counter attacked while the Red's were celebrating what seemed to be a goal, only to miss just wide of an empty net that could have tied the game. Memorial had 14 total shots against the Moncton Aigles Bleus including 2 penalty kicks, but could not find their way past Moncton's goalie Matteo Blanc. With a more successful offensive game from the Aigles Bleus, they were able to defeat Memorial 2-0.

The Memorial Sea-Hawks currently have five distinct goal scorers, each with one goal to their name. Hashem Khalifa, Gus Opuoro, Felly Elonda, Colin Connors, and Cabhan O'Keefe have all successfully struck the back of the net so far this season and the team is eager to add some more names to this list this upcoming weekend. Leading the team in shots is swift forward Colin Connors with 8 attempted shots, 4 being on goal, putting him near the top for both categories in the AUS. Connor's speed and smarts helps him blast past defenders providing him with numerous scoring opportunities in every match. Leading the team in shots on goal is defender Brent Hennebury who clearly does not only bring a strong presence to the defensive line, but also brings ample scoring opportunities for the team as well. Sea-Hawks goalie Louis-Charles Vaillancourt currently sits with a save percentage of 0.625%. Vaillancourt has faced some high quality shots and has managed to keep 10 of 16 out of Memorial's net.

The Saint Mary's Huskies have played 2 games so far, splitting them across with 1 loss and 1 win. They have scored 5 goals this season from some strong attackers: Woody Bain (2), Sean Freeman (2), and Orion Wiersma (1). Although having no goals so far, 5th year Adam Dunsworth leads the team in shots, unleashing 7 during his first 2 games. With 5 goals in 20 shots, the Huskies are ready to try and breach the Sea-Hawks defense this coming weekend.

The Sea-Hawks and Huskies will take to the field 3:15 pm (NDT) Saturday, September 16th and 2:15 pm (NDT) Sunday, September 17th at King George V Pitch.
