Calgary Standout Wyatt Vanhooren Commits to Memorial

(St. John's, NL) - Wyatt Vanhooren, a 6'2" guard from Calgary, AB, has officially announced his commitment to join Memorial University's Sea-Hawks Men's Basketball Program.

Wyatt attends St. Francis High School and was named both Team MVP and Team Captain this past season. He was also a key player for Team Alberta at the 2023 U17 Canada Basketball National Championships, in Sherbrooke, QC, where Team Alberta earned a silver medal.

"We are excited to officially welcome Wyatt to the squad this fall," commented Head Coach Ian Coultas. "He is a lights out shooter, that can get his shot off in a variety of ways. We project him to develop into one of the best shooters in the country."

Vanhooren, an honour role student, will pursue a degree in Business while at Memorial. With a vision for success both in academics and athletics, Vanhooren is confident that Memorial University will provide him with the resources and support needed to thrive in his studies while contributing meaningfully to the basketball program.

"I had a great visit to Memorial in February," remarked Vanhooren. "Meeting the coaches, the team and getting a chance to see the city of St. John's really sold it for me. I'm excited to play in front of the Sea-Hawks fans and be apart of the St. John's community."
