Sea-Hawks Stay Local for Latest Recruit

The Memorial Sea-Hawks Women's Volleyball Program has signed local volleyball standout Sarah Trowbridge.

Trowbridge, a 5'10" native of Sunnyside, Newfoundland, is a strong recruit that the Sea-Hawks have signed for the 2020-21 season and beyond. She has represented many teams in the past including Tricentia Academy, the Sea-Hawks High Performance club team, and most recently Team NL in the Canada Cup. Trowbridge plans to study Kinesiology when she attends Memorial University next year.

Trowbridge says she loves volleyball because of the high intensity and competitive environment of the sport, saying that it also keeps her active and gives her the opportunity to meet new people and friends. Trowbridge voiced her reason for joining the Sea-Hawks, saying that the opportunity to play at home and be close to family was a very big reason for her deciding to join the team, among other factors.

"During high school I have had the opportunity to play with multiple club teams and provincial teams which had coaches from the Memorial Sea-Hawks program. During these times I felt like we had a good connection and I feel that they have helped me advance my skills and will continue to do so, both physically and mentally through my post-secondary education. Also it will allow me to be close to my family and friends. I'm very excited and looking forward to joining the Sea-Hawks family!"

When asked about the signing of Trowbridge, Coach Slauenwhite stated "I have had the opportunity to coach Sarah on multiple occasions with Team NL provincial teams, and an athlete we've had on our radar for many years. Sarah is a dedicated, dynamic, student-athlete, who is driven to grow as a volleyball player. She strives to make her team and teammates better during everyday training. I'm very excited to add Sarah to our Sea-Hawk family, and know she will have an impact on our team and program throughout her career."

The Sea-Hawks are excited to add this dynamic athlete to their program, as she will help the team build towards competing for AUS Championships in the coming years.
