Hawks Down Panthers In 1st Game of Weekend

(ST. JOHN'S, NL.)—The Memorial Sea-Hawks (7-12) defeated the UPEI Panthers (3-16) on Friday, February 21st, at the Field House in St. John's.  
 
The Sea-Hawks were quick out of the gate, leading the Panthers 23-18 after the 1st quarter Boris Ristanovic led the Sea-Hawks with 8 points in the opening frame.  

The 2nd quarter was a tight one, as the scoring was tied 22-22. The Sea-Hawks led the Panthers at half 45-40. The Panthers were led by Glen Cox who totaled 8 points and 1 assist. Boris Ristanovic led the Sea-Hawks with 14 points and 4 rebounds.  

Both teams battled hard in the 3rd, resulting in the Sea-Hawks holding a 66-55 lead to start the 4th quarter.   

The Sea-Hawks kept the pressure on through the 4th quarter, and downed the Panthers 87-76.

The Panthers were led by Elijah Miller who both finished with 15 points. Glex Cox also added 14 points. Jamesly Jarome led the Panthers with 11 rebounds, while Magdi Tiea added 8.   

Memorial was led by Boris Ristanovic, who notched 20 points and added 9 rebounds. Cole Long was next in line with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Nathan Barker added 13 points and 9 rebounds, and reached the 1000 career point mark.

The second match of the 2-game weekend series will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm NST at The Field House.
