Sydney, NS – The CAPERS dropped their home opener to the Memorial Sea-Hawks with an 80-74 loss on Saturday evening at the Sullivan Fieldhouse. The CAPERS were unable to come all the way back from a 25 point deficit. The CAPERS used a strong 4th quarter to cut the lead all the way down to 2 points but couldn't complete the comeback. The CAPERS received good games from Osman Omar (Mississauga, ON) with 20 pts and 6 rebounds as well as Paul Watson (Mississauga, ON) with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Ibrahim Gosselin-Diawara (Longueuil, QC) also scored in double digits with 12 points to go with 5 assists. The Sea-Hawks used a balanced scoring attack with 5 players scoring in double digits. They were led by Nathan Barker with 19 pts. Cole Long, Emmanuel Ring, Boris Ristanovic and Jason Thompson also had double-digit games.
Turning point – The CAPERS had a chance to tie the game on two possessions late in the fourth but were unable to convert. The Sea-Hawks hit a clutch three with under a minute to go to seal the game.
