Sea-Hawks Host Axemen in Weekend Series

Sea-Hawks Host Axemen in Weekend Series

The Memorial Sea-Hawks men's basketball team will look to get into the win column this weekend when they host the Acadia Axemen for a two-game weekend series on home court.

The Sea-Hawks enter this weekend at 0-3, after having last Saturday's game postponed due to a power outage. The Axemen come to town sporting a 1-3 record, after splitting last weekend's series with the UPEI Panthers.

For Memorial to be successful they will need another strong weekend performance from 3rd year forward Nathan Barker (Corner Brook, NL) who is currently leading the league in scoring, averaging 26.0 PPG.  The Sea-Hawks have struggled to find consistent scoring outside of Barker, averaging a league low 75.0 PPG as a team. Acadia sits in 4th place in team scoring, averaging 81.8 PPG.

Daniel Foo (Corner Brook, NL) has provided the Sea-Hawks with some stability off the bench this season, averaging 12.7 PPG. Foo feels his team has had a great week of preparation and is expecting a strong effort for his squad this weekend.

The Axemen are led by 5th year PG Ben Miller (Winnipeg, MB) who is averaging 15.8 PPG (8th in the AUS), 4.0 AST/G (7th in the AUS), 1.8 STL/G (5th in the AUS), and 4.5 REB/G (22nd in the AUS).  Slowing down Miller will be a top priority for the Hawks this weekend.

The Sea-Hawks get their weekend started on Saturday evening with tip-off scheduled for 8:00pm. The teams will be back in action on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm. Tickets are available at The Field House. Live stats for both games can be viewed on goseahawks.ca and the games will also be webcast on AUStv.ca.
