SMU Tops Memorial in Four Sets

In the third and final game of the weekend series the Saint Mary's Huskies bested the Memorial Sea-Hawks in four sets, 23-25, 26-24, 25-14, 25-21.

The Sea-Hawks were able to take an exhilarating first set 25-23, a set that saw a ton of back and forth, the home team were able to take the 25th and deciding point to jump ahead early.

The Huskies were able to respond in a critical 2nd set, taking it by a score of 26-24, to even the sets up at 1. With the Huskies holding match point up 24-22 on the Sea-Hawks, the home team would surge back and tie the set at 24, looking to take a 2-0 lead. However, the Huskies would break serve, and then proceed to win the set.

With the match tied at 1 set, the Huskies would show why they're regarded as one of the top teams in the AUS, taking the set by a dominant score of 25-14, giving the Huskies a chance to wrap the match up in the 4th set.

The fourth, and final set wasn't without its fair share of dramatics, with the Sea-Hawks trailing 21-13, and the game on the line they would surge right back and trail by only a single point. However, the visiting Huskies would eventually take the set by a score of 25-21.

The Sea-Hawks were led by power-hitter Sarah Trowbridge's 17 kills and right-side hitter Cecilie Dumaresque added 13 kills, and 10 digs to the Sea-Hawks cause. While the winning Huskies squad were led by middle-hitter Olivia Bell's game-high 19 kills, and key contributions from right-side hitter Megan Bruhmwho had 14 kills and 19 digs, and middle-hitter Bethany Smith (13 kills).
