Hawks Season Comes to end after home loss

(St. John's, NL) – The UNB Reds took care of business on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Memorial Sea-Hawks 3-1 (25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21) at The Field House. The win gave UNB the weekend sweep and improves their record to 11-8. Memorial falls to 0-20 on the season, missing the playoffs. 

Adora Rooyakkers was a standout for the Reds all day. She scored 10 kills on 37 attempts for a kill percentage of 0.081 for the day. Paige Lehto registered another dominant performance for the Reds, as she dished out 33 assists, while also registering 2 killsRooyakkers showed great poise on the defensive side of the floor as well, leading the team with 19 digs.  

The young Sea-Hawks were outmatched at times again today, but fought hard throughout and took the an exciting 3rd set to extend the matchAlyssa Warford led the Hawks in kills with 10, while also providing 8 digs. Cecile Dumaresque had a well-rounded game in the loss, finishing with 9 kills, 7 digs, and 3 blocks. 

That concludes the season for the Sea-Hawks, while UNB will now get ready for the AUS Championships, which will take place from Feb. 28th to March 1.
