Hawks drop 2nd match of weekend

(ST. JOHN'S, NL.)— The UNB Reds defeated the Memorial Sea-Hawks for the second straight night, with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-19) sweep of the Hawks at The Field House.

UNB was once again led by Victoria Eadle, who registered a game high 15 kills, on an extremely efficient .591 kill percentage. Eadle simply could not be stopped tonight. Paige Lehto dished out 28 assists in the victory, doing a great job distributing the ball to her teammates, keeping the Hawks off balance on the defensive end. Adora Rooyakkers put together another solid performance, finishing with 8 kills while registering a game high 11 digs.

Memorial came out of the gates a little slow tonight, but gave the Reds everything they could handle in the 2nd set. The Hawks would go into the technical timeout up 16-15, but the Reds were able to rally and earn a 25-22 set victory.

UNB would eventually take the 3rd set 25-19 despite the Sea-Hawks best efforts.

Memorial was led by Catherine Smith tonight, who registered multiple highlight reel kills, while also scoring 2 solo blocks in the 2nd set. Hailey Oke and Alyssa Warford each finished with 7 kills on the night.

The Hawks and Reds will wrap up the weekend series tomorrow at 1pm. This will be the last game of the season for the Sea-Hawks who were unable to secure a playoff spot this season.
