Axewomen sweep three sets for win over Sea-Hawks 

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – The Axewomen posted a quick 3-0 match win over the visiting Memorial  

Sea-Hawks in the first of a three-match weekend against the Sea-Hawks. 

Hannah Helm posted five kills and four block assists to be named the Subway Player of the Game. 

The Axewomen pushed out to a quick 10-5 lead in the opening set. Down by 13-7, the Sea-Hawks closed the lead to 14-12 off of an Acadia service error, but the Axewomen landed two kills by Helm and Peyton DeWolfe to take back a strong 17-12 lead and a 25-16 win. 

Acadia jumped out to a 9-3 lead following two kills by Helm and a service ace by Lucy Glen-Carter.  

The Axewomen would retain the six-point margin and push to an eventual 25-8 win. 

Acadia would retain a lead for all sets including the final third game. Down 13-6, Sea-Hawk  

Kaitlyn Kuchinka closed the gap with three kills combined with an Acadia attack error, narrowed the lead to 13-9. 

The Axewomen would push once again to a five-point spread – 20-15 on numerous attack errors by the Sea-Hawks. 

With the 25-17 third set win, the Axewomen would celebrate a 3-0 match win over Memorial. 

Alyssa Warford led the Sea-Hawks with four kills, Kuchinka was named Memorial's Player of the Game with a balanced effort that included three kills, three service aces, and five digs. 

The Axewomen and Sea-Hawks will meet again tomorrow night at 7:00 pm in their second of a three-match weekend. 

Acadia improves to 8-6, while Memorial struggles to find their first win of the year at 0-15.
