The Sea-Hawks Women's volleyball team continue to prepare for next season as they add two new recruits to next year's squad. Coach Slauenwhite has scouted Emily Batt of Grand Prairie, Alberta, and Alyssa Warford of Corner Brook, Newfoundland.

Batt is a 6'0" outside attacker who arrives in St. John's with a distinguished youth volleyball career. From 2014-2017, she claimed one provincial title and two silver medal performances at nationals with her team South Peace Volleyball Club. In 2017, Batt represented Team Alberta at the North American Indigenous Games and captured gold, and then captured a silver ulu in the 2018 Arctic Games with Team Alberta North. Batt was also the recipient of the 2018 Charles Spencer Apple Fitness Scholarship at her high school.

Slauenwhite has nothing but praise for up-and-coming star Batt, stating "We are happy to have Emily joining our Sea-Hawks family in the fall. Emily is a very accomplished athlete who has found success at all levels. I really like her athleticism, work ethic and knowledge of the game. I feel she will have an impact in the AUS as she moves through her career."

Similar to Batt, Corner Brook recruit Alyssa Warford is no stranger to the game. Recruited as a 5'10" middle, Warford will add some height and power to the Sea-Hawks team. Warford has won multiple MVP and All-Star awards in volleyball, as well as represented her home province Team Newfoundland in 2016 (Tier 1 Silver Medal) and 2017 at the Eastern Elite Championships. Alyssa is looking forward to representing her home province as a Memorial Sea-Hawk, and is excited to join the women's volleyball program.  

Slauenwhite is "extremely excited to have Alyssa joining our team and program. Her work ethic and desire to become an elite athlete have been an asset as she has developed into one of the most dominant athletes in Atlantic Canada. Alyssa has height, is a dynamic jumper, and heavy arm all of which will bode well as she starts her AUS career."

With the addition of these two new recruits the Sea-Hawks will strengthen their roster and continue to rebuild their team. Batt and Warford will look for leadership from veterans Kaitlyn Kuchinka and Emma Hackett, who have been in the varsity program for three years. Slauenwhite will have the responsibility of integrating his recruits into a team that has its best foot forward and is prepared to win games in the AUS next fall.
