SMU Defeats Memorial in 3 Sets

(St. John's, NL) – The Huskies took the second match of the weekend away from the Sea-Hawks, winning 3-0 at the Works Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

Olivia Bell lead the Huskies with 5 kills in the first set, helping her team win by a large margin of 25-11. The Huskies had only five attacking errors while the Sea-Hawks finished the first set with nine attack errors.

The second set resembled the first as the Huskies took the game 25-13, and buried 11 kills with an impressive hitting percentage of .500. Memorial failed to convert their 23 attacks into kills, and finished the second set with a -.043 hitting percentage.

The Sea-Hawks fared better in the third set but still couldn't triumph over the Huskies, losing 25-17. The Huskies converted a game high of 16 kills during the third set, and had 31 total attacks.

Olivia Bell was the standout player of the match for the Huskies. She recorded 11 kills and 5 digs during the match, leading her team in points. From the Sea-Hawks Belle De Vries proved her capabilities, hitting 7 kills and 1 service ace.
