Huskies Prevail in Four Set Match

(St. John's, NL) – The Huskies took the first match of the weekend in an intense 4 set game, winning 3-1 at the Work's Fieldhouse on Friday night.

The Sea-Hawks took the first set by storm, winning 25-21. The late subs into the game made all the difference for the Sea-Hawks, notably Lauren Fenez, who came in on the serve and got one service ace and two digs. Margaret Henley also subbed in late in the set, securing an important assist and an incredible dig.

The second set was a different story, with the Huskies sweeping the Sea-Hawks 25-14. The Huskies had 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .344, while the Sea-Hawks hit only 9 kills and a held a hitting percentage of .108

The Huskies followed the second set with an equally strong third set, winning 25-13. Memorial's attack wasn't nearly as strong this set, with their hitting percentage falling to .027. Lindsay Donovan from the Huskies stood out, hitting five kills and helping her team extend their lead.

The fourth set went point for point, but the Huskies pulled through and won 25-23. Olivia Bell from the Huskies scored the most points for her team, hitting 14 kills, 1 service ace, and 16 digs throughout the game. Her teammate Sam Gill had a game high hitting percentage of .500, and recorded 13 kills. From the Sea-Hawks, both Claire Whiffen and Catherine Smith lead their team for blocks, and Kaitlyn Kuchinka and Belle De Vries lead their team in total points.
