Hawks Return To The Court

Hawks Return To The Court

Matchup

The Sea-Hawks (0-8) compete against the Moncton Aigles Bleus (1-8) in AUS volleyball action this weekend. Memorial will aim to get their first win of the season during the three game weekend. Moncton, on the other hand, will also fight hard to ensure the gap between the two teams in the standings only gets larger.

Last Action

Both teams have struggled finding wins this season. Moncton's only victory was against Memorial, and they have only won four sets total this season. Memorial knows they have the skill to beat Moncton, as earlier in the season they proved their competence when they took two sets off of the second place ranked Acadia (8-2).

By The Numbers

2.36 service ace per serve – Moncton is second in the AUS for service aces per serve. Memorial will have to make sure they are ready so that Moncton can't take the upper hand.

17 blocks – Memorial is far behind their competitors in the AUS for both solo blocks and block assists. To reach the next level and start winning games they will have to start producing successful blocks.

Player Spotlight

Pascale Doiron (Moncton) – Doiron is ranked sixth in the AUS for points per set. The Sea-Hawks will have to work hard to keep Doiron at bay.

Lauren Fenez (Memorial) – Fourth year Fenez returns to the Memorial team after a semester abroad. Her leadership will lift the levels of intensity in practice and hopefully show her teammates what is needed to win. She does not hit the court this weekend, but hopefully her impact on the team will shine through their performance.

"We are ready and have each played significant roles in the first semester. Our younger girls are now accustomed to the vigorous lifestyle of a student athlete and we have all been working really hard so I think this coming weekend will show just that".  – Memorial's Lauren Fenez
