Erica Rafuse Signs with the Hawks

(St. John's, NL) - Memorial University Athletics and their women's volleyball program are very excited to announce the signing of Erica Rafuse for the 2019-20 season. Rafuse is from Harmony, Nova Scotia and attends West Kings District High School.

Erica plays setter and has competed with Team Nova Scotia from 2014-2018, while also playing competitively with the Axe Volleyball Club and the Tigers Volleyball Club. In 2017, she was on the Tigers Volleyball Club when they won the 2017 Provincial Championship, while also helping her high school team win a Provincial Championship in 2018.

Coach Slauenwhite said, "Erica is an excellent addition to our team and program. As setter, Erica is strong at the net, has excellent court sense, and strong decision making skills. Combine those attributes with her athleticism, and Erica will find success in the AUS."

Erica will study Human Kinetics & Recreation while at Memorial and is excited to begin a new journey next fall.

"When I went up for a tour, I fell in love, it was such a great school, everyone that I meant was very friendly. When I got to practice with the team it felt like such a good environment. I also love to travel and hike so I'm very excited for the adventure that I will have at Memorial."

Rafuse will join the program next fall and is looking forward to joining a program she has heard great things about.

"I have had a few coaches in the past and present who have gone to Memorial and they have all told me what a great program it is and how much they loved it."

The Sea-Hawks are currently on Christmas break, but will return to the court January 11th when they travel to Moncton for a three game weekend series with the Aigles Bleus.
