On The Road Again

The Matchup

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (8-9) will make their final road trip of the season this weekend when they visit the Acadia Axewomen (11-5) for a 3-game weekend series in Wolfville. Games will be taking place on Friday at 7:00 pm (AST), Saturday at 2:00 pm (AST) and Sunday at 2:00 pm (AST). Coverage of all games will be offered online through AUStv.ca.

Last Action

The Sea-Hawks played a 3-game set in Dalhousie last weekend, dropping all three matches to the first place Tigers.  While the Sea-Hawks were swept, they did manage to take a game from the Tigers on both Saturday and Sunday, which was an improvement from earlier in the season.  The Axewomen defeated Moncton (3-0) and topped Saint Mary's (3-2), which pushed them into second place in the AUS standings.

By the Numbers

2 – The Sea-Hawks and Axewomen have played twice so far this season, with each team winning once. With the AUS Championships just around the corner, this weekend will surely be used to gain confidence heading into the final weekend.

14.9 – Acadia is currently averaging 14.9 PTS/S, while Memorial sits at 13.6. The teams are close in almost all the important statistical categories, while the Axewomen sit in second place in the overall standings. The Sea-Hawks have shown they can play with everyone in the AUS, but have lacked consistency this season.

Players to Watch

Kierstin Fey (Sea-Hawks) - Fey has been a consistent offensive fixture for the Sea-Hawks this season. She is ranked 4th in Kills/Set and 4th for Points/Set in the AUS this season (3.04 and 3.6).

Lauren Fenez (Sea-Hawks) – Fenez will once again be a key factor for the Sea-Hawks on defense. She is second in the AUS in Digs (242) and Digs/Set (4.32).

Glen-Carter, Renzella, Ross (Axewomen) – It's impossible to just highlight one Acadia attacker, as the trio of Glen-Carter, Renzella, and Ross have all been consistent performers for the Axewomen all season. Each player has 145+ kills on the season, which places them all within the top ten in the AUS rankings.
