Sea-Hawks Add Top Recruit from Western Canada

Memorial University Athletics and their women's volleyball program are very excited to welcome Hannah Potratz from Spirit River, Alberta. Hannah is a 5'7" outside attacker who is a product of Spirit River Regional Academy and the Central Peace Panthers Volleyball Club. She intends to complete a Bachelor of Science at Memorial while playing for the Sea-Hawks.

Hannah started playing volleyball in grade 4 and quickly realized that she had an extreme passion for the sport, which helped fuel her success early in her volleyball career. She has captured a Volleyball Alberta Provincial Championship, an Alberta Schools Athletic Association Provincial Championship along with numerous other provincial medals. She has also been named tournament all-star twice at the Alberta Volleyball Provincial Championships, won three consecutive coaches awards and was selected to the Peace Country All-Star Game.

When asked why she chose the Sea-Hawks, Potratz replied "It has always been a dream of mine to play university volleyball, and after meeting the team and touring the university, I grew very fond of the Sea-Hawks, their program, and the beautiful province. I feel honoured to be given an opportunity to represent such a top notch school."

Head Coach John Slauenwhite is very excited for the arrival of Hannah Potratz.

Slauenwhite added, "Hannah is an athlete I have known since she was in elementary school. I have had the opportunity to watch her grow and develop into the fierce competitor she is today. She is a student of the game who always wants to learn and better herself, along with her teammates. Hannah is a very strong, dynamic athlete who has the ability to play multiple positions, which will impact our team and program as a whole."
