Sea-Hawks Look to Gain Points During their Second Set of Away Games

Memorial Sea-Hawks Take to the Road to Start the Final Half of their Season

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (3-2-1) will compete against the UPEI Panthers (2-2-1) and the Mount Allison Mounties (0-4-0) on the road this weekend. With 6 games already completed and 6 more to go, the Sea-Hawks will be fighting to add to their win column. "We are aiming for 6 points this weekend" says third year defender Claire Kean. "We have a tougher back half of the season but we're looking at it positively because we know we can compete with those teams". After this weekend, the Sea-Hawks will face the second place Acadia Axe-Women for a pair of games, first place STFX X-Women for a game, and fourth place Cape Breton Caper for a game.

The Sea-Hawks split this past weekend's games with the Saint Mary's Huskies enduring a 4-0 win and a 5-4 loss. 4 different players added to Memorials 8 goal weekend including Claire Langille (2), Grace Nolan (1), Zoe Rowe (4), and Kate Hickey (1). Memorial's leading goal scorer Zoe Rowe who has netted 5 goals in just 4 games has been a crucial asset to their offense so far this season. Rowe is tied for third in goals in the league and will be looking to up her standings this weekend. She also leads the team with 14 shots, 10 of them being on net. Memorial's goalkeeper Shannon Galway has been a force to be reckoned with between the pipes, saving 26 of 33 shots faced, she sits at third in the AUS with a 0.788 SV%. With no shortage of offense, the Sea-Hawks will be looking to find some defensive consistency.

The first battle of the weekend will be against the UPEI Panthers, Friday, September 22 at 5:30pm. The Panthers currently sit at 5th place in the AUS, winning 2 of 5 games so far. Scoring only 4 goals in 5 games, the Panthers have been struggling to find the back of the net. Their top goal scorer is striker Caitlyn McCloskey who has found the back of the net twice off of 9 shots. Panthers goalkeeper Claudia Mazzei has had a strong showing so far saving 28 of 38 shots, giving her a 0.737 SV%, tied for 4th in the league.

The second game for the Sea-Hawks this weekend will be against the last place team, the Mount Allison Mounties. Giving up 18 goals and not scoring any so far this season, the Mounties have been struggling to find some momentum on the pitch. They will be eager to take the field and look to gain their first goal of the season during their battle against Memorial on Sunday September 24th at 12:30 pm.
