Hawks Flying High into Weekend Series

Hawks Flying High into Weekend Series

This weekend brings a much-anticipated battle between two of the top teams in the league, the Cape Breton Capers and the Memorial Sea-Hawks.

The Sea-Hawks are fighting on their home ground, hosting a double header against the Capers. Currently Cape Breton is sitting second to the top of the table right now with 15 points, and Memorial sits just four points behind. Although Cape Breton has won all their games so far this season, Memorial is coming off a very successful weekend with a lot of momentum and is itching for another chance to prove themselves.

Head Coach Mike Power states "we are coming off two strong performances last weekend and feel good about the strides we are making. We are facing a strong opponent this weekend and we will be well prepared for that challenge".

Fifth year and centre midfield Maria Mackey elaborates on the history between these two teams "games against CBU are the games you really look forward to once the schedule is released because of the rivalry that has been built over the last number of years".

Mackey is excited to be back on home turf and mentions "as a team we are feeling great heading into this weekend and had a good week of training. We want to hand CBU their first loss of the season".

As the Sea-Hawks reach the half way point of the season, the girls are ready to dig and grind for the points left to earn. Coach Power maintains "our regular season goals remain unchanged, and that is to collect as many points as possible, qualify for the playoffs, and finish as high up the table as we possibly can".

Be sure to come out to King George V Field to watch and support the Sea-Hawks take on their rivals Cape Breton Capers on Saturday at 1pm NDT and Sunday at 1pm NDT.
