Sea-Hawks on the Hunt for a Win

Sea-Hawks on the Hunt for a Win

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (1-1-2) fly to Nova Scotia this weekend to take on the St. Mary's Huskies (1-2-1) on Saturday and the Dalhousie Tigers (4-0-0) on Sunday.

The Sea-Hawks sit mid table coming into the weekend, one point ahead of the Huskies and seven points behind the Tigers. They are a few points behind in the standings compared to where they were last year (4-0-0). Memorial has been revered the past few years as an exceptional and highly ranked competitor, and this weekend brings a test to see if Memorial can step up and find the will to win that they need to still be considered a top team this season.

The Saturday game against St. Mary's will be a battle for Memorial to prove themselves offensively and bring some points to the scoreboard. The Huskies leading goal scorer Anelise Karakostas has two goals in four games for her team, and she will be a significant threat to the Sea-Hawks back line. Meanwhile the Sea-Hawks attack will look to Nicole Torraville and fourth year Jenny Bent to add to their goal tally's.

Sunday's game will be a great opportunity for the Sea-Hawks to prove themselves as a top team when they face the third-place Dalhousie Tigers.  The Tiger's Jensen Hudder is currently in second place in the league for goals scored this season with a whopping four goals in just three games. Memorial keeper Sydney Walsh will have to keep her back line strong and disciplined to ward off Hudder's attacks.

Coach Mike Power knows his team "is a tad behind where we would like to be in terms of point accumulation, but we have had some bright moments and have some positives to build from. We have some work to do and we're ready for the challenges that lie ahead".

Fifth year midfielder Teri Murphy affirms "our main objective heading into this weekend is to improve upon previous games and find the back of the net. We will face these upcoming games with determination and grit to make this happen".

The Sea-Hawks games will be available live on AUStv.ca on Saturday and Sunday, both available at 1:30 pm NST.
