Sea-Hawks Return to the Pitch

The Memorial Sea-Hawks women's soccer team returns to the field this weekend to take on the UPEI Panthers (4-4-1) and the Acadia Axewomen (5-3-1) in AUS women's soccer action.

Memorial currently sits in 4th place in the AUS standings with 15 points, trailing Acadia in 3rd place with 16 points, and in front of the Panthers, who are in 6th place with 13 points. With 2nd place to 7th place only separated by 4 points, every game is crucial as teams battle for playoff spots.

"Our league is the tightest that it's been in years and we expect every match down the stretch to have a playoff feel to it. We are looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead" says Sea-Hawks Coach Mike Power.

The Sea-Hawks haven't played since Sunday, October 1st when they battled to a 0-0 draw with the UNB Varsity Reds at home.  Power has used the break to focus on his opponents and feels his team will be ready to perform.

"We've been able to maintain a healthy training environment during the break and the players are now hungry for AUS competition. The break has been good to allow us to prepare for upcoming opponents."

2nd year midfielder Nicole Torraville is excited to get back on the pitch and feels her team will be ready to battle hard for points this weekend.

"With playoffs right around the corner we have a critical weekend ahead of us. After a strong week of training staying focused won't be a problem for us this weekend."

The Sea-Hawks and Panthers will begin play at 1:30pm NST on Saturday afternoon from Prince Edward Island. Then the Hawks will be back in action on Sunday at 1:30pm NST to face the Acadia Axemen in Wolfville, NS.  Both games can be watched live on AUStv.ca.
