Hawks Head to Halifax to Battle Huskies & Tigers

The Memorial Sea-Hawks travel to Halifax, Nova Scotia this weekend for their first road trip of the 2017 AUS soccer season.  The Sea-Hawks are coming off a home weekend sweep of the Mount Allison Mounties, which puts them in the top half of the early season standings.

This weekend the Sea-Hawks will take on the Saint Mary's Huskies (0-3-0) on Saturday, followed by the Dalhousie Tigers (3-0-0) on Sunday.  These teams are coming off a Thursday night matchup, which saw the Tigers edge the Huskies by a 1-0 margin.

While Head Coach Mike Power is pleased with the team's opening weekend performance, he knows his squad will have their hands full this upcoming weekend.

"We are pleased with our opening weekend, but we're now facing two teams that have improved greatly from last season.  We expect both opponents to be very well organized and difficult to play against."

The Sea-Hawks currently have 5 players with 2 goals each on the season (Emily Bailey, Jessie Noseworthy, Jane Pope, Lauren Taylor, and Nicole Torraville) and the team leads the AUS in goals with 12 total.

Rookie goalkeeper Sydney Walsh (St. John's, NL) is coming off back-to-back clean sheets to start the season and will be looking to keep that streak intact this weekend.

Memorial and Saint Mary's will begin play at 1:30pm NST on Saturday afternoon from Huskies Stadium. Then the Sea-Hawks will be back in action on Sunday at 1:30pm NST to face the Dalhousie Tigers.  Both games can be watched live on AUStv.ca.
