Sea-Hawks Score 9-0 Victory Over Mounties

(St. John's, NL) – The Memorial Sea-Hawks defeated the Mount Allison Mounties 9-0 in their season opener on Saturday afternoon at King George V Soccer Field in St. John's.

While the Sea-Hawks were able to put 9 goals on the scoresheet, it wouldn't be until the 27th minute until they could solve goalkeeper Claire West (Bedford, NS), when Emily Bailey found the back of the net for the home side.  From there, the scoring was more consistent with goals from Nicole Torraville (33', 55'), Jessie Noseworthy (38'), Jane Pope (48'), Keisha Younge (62'), Lauren Taylor (76', 87'), and Emily Bailey (27', 50').

Memorial outshot Mount Allison 27-5 and the score could have been higher, but the Mounties received a strong performance from West who finished with 9 saves, while facing a constant flurry of action all game long.

Nicole Torraville was the Subway Player of the Game, registering two goals on five shot attempts.

The Mounties will look to rebound tomorrow, as the teams will play the second game of the two game weekend set.  Game time is 12:00pm NST at King George V Soccer Field and can be seen on AUStv.ca.
