Sea-Hawks face Acadia in final weekend at home

The Memorial Sea-Hawks women's soccer team returns home this weekend to battle the Acadia Axewomen.  This set of home games are the final regular season games for both teams and there is still a lot on the line.

The Sea-Hawks currently sit in 2nd place overall in the AUS standings with 27 points, three points behind Cape Breton, who have one game remaining.  Acadia is in 3rd place with 24 points, still within reach of both teams.  The top two seeds in the AUS get automatic byes into the semi-finals.  Memorial Head Coach Mike Power knew early that these would be important games for both teams.

"We're really excited to host these matches. When the AUS schedule came out these two fixtures jumped off the page and we suspected a semi-final bye would be on the line this weekend. We are well prepared, confident, and have a lot of momentum behind us at the moment. We expect a playoff-like feeling around the matches and we will be up to the tough challenge that Acadia presents."

Memorial currently leads the AUS in scoring with 47 goals on the season.  Leading the way is Jessie Noseworthy (St. John's, NL) who is tied for first in the country with both goals (14) and points (21), doing so with fewer games played than the other league leaders.

The Sea-Hawks and Axewomen hit the pitch at 5:00pm on Friday, followed by a Saturday match at 1:00pm.  The games will be played at King George V Soccer Pitch and tickets are available at the gate. The game will also be webcast on AUStv.ca.
