Sea-Hawks Host St.FX for Double Header Weekend

 

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (1-3) will battle the St.FX X-Women (0-4) at home this coming weekend. 

 

This past weekend the Memorial Sea-Hawks lost a pair of away games against the UNB Reds. The Sea-Hawks struggled in the first two quarters, sinking only 18 points to create a trail of 41-18 at half. The Sea-Hawks continued to fight on the court and with the help of some points from Hannah Green and Rebecca Ekstrom, they were able to gain 18 points in the third quarter. The game ended at an 88-53 win for the Reds. Sea-Hawks point leader was Hannah Green with 12 and Alana Short right behind her with 11. The Sea-Hawks had a closer contested game the next day. The game was tied at 16 after the first quarter led with 5 points from Hannah Green. At half, the Reds were up 45-37. Memorial continued to fight and the game was still close until the fourth quarter when the Reds were able to pull away and win the game 85-73. Point leader for the Sea-Hawks was Rebecca Ekstrom with 19 followed by Hannah Green with 15. 

Sea-Hawks point leader so far this season is Alana Short averaging 16.8 points a game followed by Hannah Green who is averaging 13 a game. Both players have been crucial to not only the Sea-Hawks offense but also their defensive strategies. Both Short and Green lead their team in DEF/G as well. 

The Memorial Sea-Hawks will contest the St. FX X-Women this weekend where they will be fighting for two wins. Leading the X-Women in points per game are Ekaterina Karchevskaya and Shannon Neita, each averaging 11.3 per game. The two teams will take to the court at 6:00 PM on November 10th and 11th at the Fieldhouse.
