Rebecka Ekström, an aggressive 5'8 combo guard from Stockholm, Sweden, has committed to Coach English and the Women's Basketball program for the 2020-2021 season

Rebecka currently plays for her club, Norrort Basket in Sweden, where she is the team's starting point guard. This season she is averaging an impressive 14.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg, and 3.2 apg.

"We are extremely excited to add a player of Rebecka's talent to our roster" Coach English said. "Her ability to attack the basket to score and create for others, is something that I think will translate well in our league. She can also shoot the ball from 3 which allows her to play off the ball and space the floor.  We are excited to get to work with Rebecka and help her continue to grow her game."

Rebecka had this to say about her decision to commit to Coach English and the Seahawks. "I'm very excited and grateful for this opportunity to play for the Memorial Seahawks next season. It was an easy decision for me when Coach Mark contacted me, because everything felt perfectly right from the beginning. I can't wait to join the Seahawks!"

Rebecka has also represented her country as a member of the Swedish National team for four straight years, at the U15, U16, U17 and U18 levels. Notably, against Slovenia in the 2018 U18 European Championships, Rebecka  recorded 13pts, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 19 minutes of play.

Coach English added "It is a bonus to add a player to your roster with international experience. Rebecka has played at a very high level having represented her country for 4 straight years. That international experience of play will be a major asset to our team next season."

Rebecka plans to study Business at Memorial.
