Sutton Finishes 5th at U Sports Championships

The 2018 USports Wrestling Championships concluded in Sault Ste Marie, ON this weekend with the Brock Badgers once again claiming the top spot in both the men's and women's divisions. This is the fifth year in a row that Brock has claimed titles on both sides.

The Memorial Sea-Hawks had one representative at this year's event, Dennis Sutton. Sutton finished this year with a 2-2 record, which put him in 5th place overall in the men's 100kg division.

2nd Place - Waylon Decoteau (Regina Cougars)
3rd Place - Ignatius Pitt (Brock Badgers)
4th Place - Job Reinhart (Guelph Gryphons)
5th Place - Dennis Sutton (Memorial Sea-Hawks)
6th Place – Baldwin Asala (Calgary Dinos)
7th Place – Justin Ramgotra (Alberta Golden Bears)
8th Place – Scott MacLellan (McMaster Marauders)

Sutton was defeated by Justin Ramgotra (Alberta Golden Bears) by decision (8-7) in round 1. Sutton would bounce back by earning a decision (8-7) victory over Ignatius Pitt (Brock Badgers) in his round 2 match. Waylon Decteau (Regina Cougars) won by fall over Sutton in round 3, which place Dennis in the 5th/6th place match.  The Memorial wrestler would be victorious in his final bout, defeating Baldwin Asala (Calgary Dinos) to claim 5th overall.
