Memorial Drops 4-3 Matchup to Saint Mary's

An impressive matchup this afternoon between the Sea-Hawks and Huskies, each team giving the fans an aggressive and fast paced game. Both sides showed incredible endurance to keep the score tight the whole game.

Saint Mary's were the first to hit the scoreboard with a clean goal from #11 Alex Black. The score remained until player #9 Jacob Grant registered his first goal as a Sea-Hawk to get MUN on the board and tie things up. After more than 30 minutes of scoreless play #8 Harry Carter scored from a rebound off the keeper after #10 Kyle Williams put up a hard shot. The Sea-Hawks thought they had another when Williams put an impressive diving header into the back of the net only for it to get called off by officials for being off-sides.

To continue the action James Spence puts up another for SMU in the 68th minute of play to tie it up once again. In the 82nd minute Kyle Williams gets redemption with a header off the corner kick from Sea-Hawks' #10 Tyler Kirby. The celebration was short lived as SMU player Cian Tousignant-Osiadhail scored in the 83rd minute to put the Huskies in the lead. Before the Sea-Hawks were able to fight back the Huskie put up another goal, this time by Kwaku Korankye.

Today's match was exactly what fans hope to see open the season. High intensity and more talented soccer action will no doubt be seen again tomorrow as the teams face once again 3:15PM NST at King George V.
