(Sydney, NS) - The 3rd seeded UNB Varsity Reds used a strong first half to defeat the #6 seed Memorial SeaHawks in the opening quarter-final match of the 2017 Subway AUS Men's Soccer Championships being held at Cape Breton University. The Varsity Reds got three first half goals from Alex O'Brien (Charlottetown, PE), Dan Walker (Fredericton, NB) and Luis Garcia (San Antonio, TX) to secure the victory.
Turning point – Luis Garcia scored a beautiful one-timer off a free kick that deflected off the wall to put the Reds comfortably out in front. The Reds were able to play solid defense in the second half to earn a pass into the semi-finals. Individual Leaders
