Sea-Hawks Look to Clinch Playoff Berth

The Memorial Sea-Hawks men's soccer team (4-5-1) will be squaring off against the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (4-6-0) in the last fixture of the regular season in AUS men's soccer action. The games are poised to be a highly contested and emotional contest as both teams are in contention to clinch play-off berths.

The Sea-Hawks are currently holding the 6th and final playoff spot with 13 points, while the Moncton Aigles Bleus are in 8th with 12 points. Both teams will be keeping an eye on the UPEI Panthers who are currently in 7th with 13 points as well.

"We are confident that we will perform together as a unit and look forward to playing at home with our playoff position in our hands on our home pitch" stated Head Coach Jake Stanford in regards to the games this weekend.

Last week's action saw the Sea-Hawks tie against the UPEI Panthers (0-0), followed by a narrow defeat at the hands of the Acadia Axemen (1-2).

In order to clench that last playoff berth, the Sea-Hawks will be counting on Tyler Forsey's goal scoring prowess as he currently leads the team with 7 goals. Furthermore, Owen McAlesse will be sporting the Sea-Hawks colors for the first time at home this season, which will give the Sea-Hawks a boost in their quest to returning to the post-season after last year's absence.

The Sea-Hawks and the Aigles Bleus will begin play at 7:15 PM NST on Friday.  On Saturday the Sea-Hawks will be returning to action at 2:15 pm NST. Both games will be held at the King George V Pitch. Live online coverage of the games will be offered through AUStv.ca.
