The Memorial men's soccer team (3-3-0) returns home this weekend to play host to the UNB Varsity Reds (1-2-2) from King George Vth Soccer Pitch.
The Varsity Reds currently sit in 7th place in the AUS, having only scored 3 goals on the season. They've also only allowed 5 goals on the season, which is 3rd best in the AUS. UNB plays a tight defensive game, while Memorial leads the AUS in goals scored. The team that can play to their strength will surely come away with important points in a tight AUS playoff race.
Tyler Forsey (St. Phillips, NL) will look to continue to lead the Hawks up front. He is the current AUS goal scoring leader, with 6 total goals on the season. Tyler Kirby (St. John's, NL) is second on the team with 4 goals, good enough for 5th overall in the AUS.
Memorial will once again rely on keeper Braedan Sheppard (St. John's, NL), who has played in all 6 of the teams games so far. Sheppard has been a key player for the Sea-Hawks this season, having allowed 7 goals in 6 games.
Game action begins at 3:15pm on Saturday and 2:15pm on Sunday from King George Vth Soccer Pitch with the games also being available live on AUStv.ca. For updates and scores visit www.goseahawks.ca.
