Memorial Sea-Hawks vs. Mount Allison Mounties

The Memorial Sea-Hawks return to action this weekend with a two-game set against the Mount Allison Mounties at King George V. The actions gets underway on Saturday, beginning 3:15 PM, with Sunday's match starting at 2:15 PM. The Sea-Hawks are looking to bounce back this season after missing the playoffs, finishing with a 3-7-2 record. Despite that, coach Jake Stanford has nothing but high expectations for this unit going into the AUS season.

"Our expectations have never changed since I started here at Memorial," Stanford said. He continued, "…we want to win every game that we play. We must be prepared in our training to expect to win and not just be happy to train to compete. We expect to make the playoffs but we realize that we must improve on our performance from last year. Opening weekend must be 6 pts and anything else is not acceptable."

Bearing the weight of these high expectations will be star players Tyler Forsey and Tyler Kirby. The pair combined for 35 goals in the Challenge Cup league and will be leaned on for much of the offense this season.

Potent offense is going to be necessary for this team to improve upon their results in 2016. The Sea-Hawks scored 12 times last year, while conceding 19 to the opposition. Memorial will have to improve on their goal output in 2017 if they want to meet coach Stanford's expectations.

Remember, you can come support the Sea-Hawks as they begin the march toward a potential playoff berth this weekend at King George V. Can't make it down? You can always catch live AUS action at AUStv.ca.
